Move-Out Cleaning Checklist — What's Covered

A move-out clean is a full reset of an empty home, and it covers far more than a standard clean or even a deep clean. The difference is that everything is empty and reachable, so we get inside the places a normal visit skips. When you schedule, we email you this checklist in writing so nothing is a surprise at the walk-through.

Kitchens get the most attention because that's where deposits are most often lost — baked-on grease inside the oven and food residue in the fridge are the number-one reasons landlords deduct for cleaning. Bathrooms come next: soap scum, mildew in the caulking, and hard water on the fixtures. Then it's every cabinet and drawer wiped inside, baseboards and switch plates throughout, cobwebs cleared, and floors vacuumed and mopped edge to edge.

Will This Help Me Get My Deposit Back?

It clears the cleaning hurdle, and that's usually the one within your control. Under Idaho law a landlord generally has 21 days to return a deposit and has to itemize any deductions — and they can't charge you for normal wear and tear, only for cleaning and damage beyond it. Cleaning is the part you can get ahead of, and it's one of the most common deductions when a unit is handed back grimy.

So here's the honest version: we clean the home to the standard an inspection holds you to — inside appliances, inside cabinets, baseboards, the works — which removes the cleaning reason for a deduction. We can't promise a landlord's decision or guarantee a specific dollar amount back; deposits also cover damage, unpaid rent, and things outside a cleaning's scope. Move-In Cleaning Before You Unpack

The best time to deep clean a home is when it's empty — and the day before you move in is the last time it will be. Cleaning inside the cabinets you're about to fill, the fridge you're about to stock, and the closets you're about to load is far easier before your boxes are in the way. Once furniture lands, those spots stay exactly as the last occupants left them.

A move-in clean covers the same ground as a move-out clean: inside every appliance and cabinet, bathrooms descaled, baseboards and switch plates wiped, floors done edge to edge. If you're moving into an apartment, the turnover the previous tenant did rarely reaches this far. And if the carpets came with the place, that's a common add-on worth handling before your furniture covers them up.
